You’ll need the following to make this:
- White sugar: you’ll need one cup. A classic simple syrup is equals parts sugar and water.
- Water: you’ll also need a cup of water.
- Grapefruit: I used two large slices from the middle of the grapefruit.
- Air tight container: this is what you’ll store your simple syrup in.

Combine equal parts sugar and water in a saucepan, add grapefruit slices, bring to a simmer until sugar dissolves, then cool and strain.

Grapefruit Simple Syrup
Ingredients
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- 2 slices grapefruit choose middle slices
Instructions
- In a small pot, add sugar, water and grapefruit slices.
- Bring to a simmer. Use a spatula to gently stir and ensuring all sugar is dissolved.
- Remove from heat. Cover and let sit for at least one hour.
- Once cooled, transfer to a well sealed container and place in the fridge. Keep the grapefruit slices in overnight.
- Remove the grapefruit slices after about 12-24 hours. Scrape off all the syrup that is coating them.
- Keep in the fridge for 1-2 weeks.
